The hinges in our range are divided into the following categories:

• Adjustable hinges:
  • Adjustable hinges (the hinge itself is adjustable)
  • Slotted hinges (the latch next to the hinge is adjustable)
• Hatch hinges:
  • Light hatch hinges (bolt size M10 and M16)
  • Heavy-duty hatch hinges (bolt size M20)
• Weld-on hinges
• Weld-on bullet hinges

 
Where in the text below reference is made to adjustable hinges, this does not refer to the category but to the type (i.e. not slotted hinges).

The above types are used in the following way:

• Adjustable hinges are often used for watertight doors and hatches. The advantage of these hinges is that they can be adjusted to ensure proper compression of the rubber seals. This is a class requirement when a door or hatch has to be weatherproof or watertight.
• Slotted hinges are often used when latches are also used on the hinge side. The difference between an adjustable hinge and a slotted hinge is that with a slotted hinge, the clamp bolt is replaced by a thick strip with a slotted hole.
• Lightweight hinges can be used for lighter hatches. In this case, straight side plates can be chosen (for use on an angle steel frame) or curved side plates (for use on a coaming).
• Heavy-duty hatch hinges are used for heavier hatches (because the hatch itself is heavy or because a counterweight has been applied) when the hatch is so heavy that adjustable hinges are no longer sufficient.
• Weld-on hinges and weld-on bullet hinges can be used with lighter doors or hatches that are less demanding due to their position.

In most cases, the various types of hinges are available as centre type or flat type.
In the centre type, one side of the hinge plate lies on the centre line of the hinge point.
In the flat type, the outside of the hinge plate is in line with the outside of the round housing of the hinge point, so that the outside is completely flat.

The various types consist of a number of individual components that can be combined in various ways:

• Most hinges are fitted with a brass grease nipple as standard.
• Adjustable hinges and slotted hinges are available with a hinge plate made of aluminium, steel or stainless steel. A stainless-steel hinge shaft is always used, which comes standard with a brass lubrication nipple. Adjustable hinges are fitted with a stainless-steel clamp bolt. Slotted hinges are available with an aluminium or stainless-steel hinge pin.
• Lightweight hinges are available in steel. There is a choice of straight or curved side plates and either a round or a slotted hole.
• Heavy-duty hinges are available with a steel, stainless-steel or aluminium hinge plate and a steel, stainless-steel or aluminium mounting plate. They are available with a round hole (M20) or a slotted hole.
• The separate components can often be put together as you wish.

 
Stainless-steel components are always quality stainless steel 316 (stainless-steel plate material and profiles) or A4 (bolts and nuts).

Most components can also be supplied separately.
